Lunar Moon Festival 2013

September 16, 2013 § Leave a comment

This week, our Asian friends are busy celebrating the Lunar (Chinese) Moon Festival. This is the second most important holiday on the lunar calendar. The Moon Festival could be likened to Oktoberfest in Germany or Thanksgiving Day in United States. On the occasion, family members gather for a traditional moon-viewing dinner where moon cakes are the main delicacy. Moon cakes are baked goods made of different sets of ingredients — beans, lotus seeds, eggs, meat and even abalone. You can find these delicious cakes at any Asian supermarket this week. Moon cakes are meant to be consumed together with tea. Happy Lunar Moon Festival!
