Assad, Putin are big winners of Obama’s backpeddling

Tensions in Syria seem to have calmed quite a bit since the Syrian government announces it may offer its chemical weapons to the UN in exchange for no airstrikes from the US. This is a big win for Assad since he has no use for chemical weapons anyway. He could easily win the civil war with conventional weapons supplied by Russia and Iran. Having chemical weapons only gives world powers like the U.S. an excuse to intervene militarily. This is also a big win for Putin as he will be seen as a global statesman and a formidable opponent of the U.S. foreign policy. I am sure American adversaries like Iran, North Korea and Cuba will be seeking assistance from Russia and also buying its arms.
What about President Obama? He may get a second Nobel Peace Prize for not bombing Syria. Just kidding!
