Guy Fawkes Day is just another weird holiday

November 4, 2010 § Leave a comment

If you have followed my blog for some time, you would know that I like to comment on weird holidays from around the world. Incidentally, I have just received an email from a reader in Great Britain regarding a holiday called Guy Fawkes Day. This day is named after Guy Fawkes, an infamous revolutionary who tried to blow up the Parliament and kill the English King. People celebrate this holiday by throwing effigies of people they hate into bonfires. Sounds like an interesting form of celebration. 🙂
