Play the world

August 2, 2010 § Leave a comment

There are tens of thousands of professional golfers around the world, divided evenly among the hundreds of professional tours. Due to commitments to their tours, the world’s top players rarely compete against each other aside from the four majors. Consequently, it is extremely hard for golf to grow as a global sport without the aforementioned being realized. Top officials from the major tours have too realized this shortcoming. They have decided to sanction a series of world golf championships, bringing together the very best players from each tour. One of the World Golf Championships, the 2010 Bridgestone Invitational, is set for this week. As all of the participants are pretty rich dudes, this is more for pride than anything–which will make for a nice competitive setting (don’t you think?).
